symptom; "None of the cells have a vCenter proxy service running."
resolution . Note that if vcloud cannot import VM/host, etc inventory data form vmware, the vcloud listener will shut itself down
-restart vcenter services to clear vcenter health status alerts in VIC (vcloud depends on inventory service & storage profile service)
-restart vcloud services
-when vcloud comes back up, in vcloud resources, reconnect vcloud to vcenter (right click on vcenter>select "reconnect" ) - note that you may have to re-do password. Confirm that account can still login to vcenter VIC/Webclient

  1. if the procedure does not work, it indicates the vcloud DB has become corrupt. To correct this
    1. request support and use our internal troubleshooter (see KB 710 )
    2. b/u the vcloud db
    3. stop vcd serivces
    4. purge tables ass needed in vcloud (typically select QRTZ scheudler table)
    5. restart vcd cell
  2. The problem could also be incompatible objects in the vcenter database (usually a disconnected or misconfigured VM )
    1. to correct these, review the vcloud-conatainer-debug.log in the /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/logs folder
      1. look for the last objects in the log before the cell listener errors out and disconnects from vcenter
      2. these objects proably have corrupt information
    2. log into vcenter and fix the problem, then reconnect vcenter
      1. in the example attached, it is a missing network in a vm template, and is the last error in the logs before the vclould listener crashes and shuts down
      2. either reconfigure the template, or delete it
      3. repeat this process until vcenter remains connected
    3. finally, you can also review the vcloud logs for connection problems
