# vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config
#PermitRootLogin no (remove the # to disable root ssh)
vi:
arrow to the appropriate spot in the document
hit i to enter insert mode
change #
hit esc to exit insert mode
use the following to write and exit ":wq" no quotes

restart ssh service:
/etc/init.d/sshd restart
or
reboot server with shutdown -r now
